The Donkey Diary - Sani2C Day Three

Image
(BOd note: those who writes for a living will understand the pressure of a deadline, your brains blanks out, your fingers types  meaningless sentences and your grammar is basically gibberish. A nd the irritating editor constantly on the phone demanding your piece. Let's just say this editor went out of his way to get you, the 2785 faithful, loyal and rabid fans this piece from the Donkey. It was, let's just say, not pleasant...) We woke on Day Three a little later than the previous days as the distance and profile was little less demanding and all teams should have no problem finishing in time. Even The Massive were expected to come in by lunchtime… And after a slightly slower day 2 we had now dropped back to group B in 66th position over all. The Massive had also dropped back after Day Two slightly to, if I can quote Le Tour, le gruppetto. This still to be confirmed, but watching the highlights on the TV the other day I believe Heavy D was filmed in the queue weari...

Sani is coming Part 1 - The Mast Challenges (The Donkey Edition)

Image
With Sani2C just around the corner, three weeks to be exact, consisting of three days of agonizingly beautiful riding from Underberg to Durban. This epic ride starts on the 15th of May, averages 80km and climbs as much as 2200m a day and goes through the “HOME OF THE BLACK MAMBA”. All the more reason to prepare and prepare well. No one wants to get stuck out there with +3m albino mambas. Even if it's just to get value for money after all the big G you had to drop to get here. [Ed. note 1: (Because the BOditor always has something to say) Donkey? Mamba?] Final preparation starts with “The Mast Challenge”. This is a hill in the Tokai forest at Cape Town. The specs are 11.5km and 900m of climbing. Simple math should tell you that’s 8% average all the way with spikes over 20%. Some people run and some people cycle and a select few (not even the Donkey was brave enough) do both to claim the title “King of the Mountain”. [Ed. note 2: (stating) You walked!!!] To get...

Restaurant Review - Cazzo Dio Porco "Lucius"!

Image
After D2D (Ed. Notes: Yes, yes, where the heck is the race report? Well, it is up to 'Pa and Punda to publish as the BOditor is just too jinxed. It will come, eventually, like how they climbed Sterkies...) the team (Except the Goat who practically creamed a 2h30 and went back to do it again. Entire team curses him) decided that lack of proper fuel is the issue for such poor showing. They gathered to source more Italian restaurant to benefit the cycling community. Punda: (suggestive) Guys, guys, I heard that the Lucius is a restaurant that has been there forever and it's owned by genuine Italians and has great atmosphere and it's extremely popular and it's always full and you have to make a booking or you won't get served. Ninja: (matter of factly) Ja, ja, I been there, twice. Goat: (spits) Ha-puey! BObbie: (snickers) So's the Spur. Lani: (stating) I don't eat where I have to book. Punda: (upset) You guys are so snobbish and never listen to what I have...
